Assessing Ecological Disturbance in Neotropical Forest Landscapes Using High-Level Diversity and High-Level Functionality: Surprising Outcomes from a Case Study with Spider Assemblages

چکیده

Spiders have been increasingly used as environmental and ecological indicators in conservation ecosystem management. In the Neotropics, there is a shortage of information regarding spiders’ taxonomies responses to anthropogenic disturbances. To unravel these hitches, we tested possibility using high-level diversity functionality evaluate spider assemblages’ sensitivity landscape changes. This approach, if proven informative, might overcome relevant limitations taxonomic derived indexes, which are considered time-consuming, cost-demanding dependent on (few) expert taxonomists’ availability. Our results highlight pertinence both indicators’ structural changes induced by increasing disturbance, associated with reductions complexity, microclimates, microhabitats. Overall, were sensitive disturbance should be useful resource for assessing extent ecosystems’ disruptions also guide managers landscapes’ restoration.

A Saliency Detection Model via Fusing Extracted Low-level and High-level Features from an Image

Saliency regions attract more human’s attention than other regions in an image. Low- level and high-level features are utilized in saliency region detection. Low-level features contain primitive information such as color or texture while high-level features usually consider visual systems. Recently, some salient region detection methods have been proposed based on only low-level features or hig...

High-Level Synthesis Using Application-Specific Arithmetic: A Case Study

On the one hand, a strength of FPGAs is their ability to perform non-standard computations not supported by classical microprocessors. Many libraries of highly customizable application-specific IPs have been developed to exploit this strength. On the other hand, HLS tools, which allow to program an FPGA using a dialect of the C language, are gaining traction. However, the ease of use of the C l...

High Level Design using SyncCharts: A Case Study

This presentation shows how “SyncCharts” can be used in the design of a controller. “SyncCharts” is a graphical synchronous formalism that inherits from Statecharts in its look and from Esterel in its foundations. SyncCharts supports hierarchical descriptions, concurrency and preemption. We use it to express the exepected behavior of control-dominated systems. Choosing the non trivial example o...

Achieving High-Level Functionality through Complexification

An appropriate but challenging goal for evolutionary computation (EC) is to evolve systems of biological complexity. However, specifying complex structures requires many genes, and searching for a solution in such a highdimensional space can be intractable. In this paper, we propose a method for finding high-dimensional solutions incrementally, by starting with an initial population of very sma...
